The bill (Reg. No. 8315) harmonizes the laws of Ukraine on protection of rights and interests of people with disabilities with the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
The bill redefines the concepts ‘disability´ and ‘person with disability´ considering the social model of disability, not the medical one; guarantees inclusive education of people with disabilities adjusted to the individual needs; raises the status and supports further development of sign language; organizes subtitling and sign language interpretation of television and radio programs.
